“Oriental Birds on Red Flowers” This is the very first cut paper in the Oriental Bird Series. I was inspired by looking at Chinese art and Japanese woodblocks. I wanted to capture the simplicity and beauty of birds resting on a branch in a graphic style with just enough detail to give it definition. I chose a limited palette of colours that harmonise together. My style of work continues to evolve and I try to to ‘paint’ with paper with more details and shades of colour.” – FSW
