Fiona Scott Wilson’s Vintage Beach Series

Starting with a series of paintings (in cut-paper) for an exhibition in Sidmouth of children enjoying playing on the beach and women sunbathing and riding the waves, a new series is evolving featuring strong women together. The beach series extended during lockdown evolving from memories of halcyon days of freedom at the seaside: a celebration of maturity and harking back to a time now forgotten. “Those were the days…”

2020 Beach Series

The Beach Series has been extended. Starting as a series of images for Fiona’s www.art4kids.gallery, memories of childhood followed by the triptych of works above featuring modern women styled with a heritage sensibility, referencing Modigliani and inspired by traditional British postcards from the 1900s that formed the basis of a very popular and successful exhibition in Sidmouth, Devon. These selected images are now available in a canvas print.

Announcing three new original cut-paper paintings with a vintage take on contemporary womanhood, challenging, independent and free of labels. Raw and without the gloss of the advertising world or compliance with fashionista dictates, these real women emerge from the sea with their strength intact enjoying their freedom.

The three canvas prints above plus the three new images comprise the new exhibition: Bygone Beach Days. After lockdown, the original works to be exhibited but in the meantime, easy to hang canvas prints will be released here (watch this space).
